Just when you think there is some order to the universe and that maybe, just maybe, you can take a break, something happens. Autumn sighed and thought about the large drink she would reward herself with after she completed the next task. She tapped her combadge

“Captain Deadilus – can you join me on the Bridge?”

There was a moment’s pause.

[On my way Autumn]

The power fluctuations had been resolved but whilst Autumn had been chatting with the engineers a few of their colleagues had arrived back from a bar on Starbase 9 telling the story of how the Captain of the Relentless had been arrested.

It had been earlier in the day that Captain Deadilus had mention that he and Alex Khavok, the Captain of the Relentless, were friends and that Scott hoped to catch up with him at some point. Autumn imagined that he would want to know that his friend had been incarcerated so she had checked that the rumour was true and now she waited for Scott to join her on the bridge.

“Autumn – Problems?”

It was always reassuring to see Scott on the bridge; he had an aura of calm and the look of a man who had the information and solutions to thousands of problems handily tucked away in his head.

“I thought you would want to know that Alex Khavok has been arrested under what seems dubious circumstances and is currently being held in the brig on Starbase 9.”

Autumn let the Captain absorb her words and as always Scott face gave nothing away.

“What information do you have?”

From the brief time they had been working closely on the Horizon, Autumn had found that Scott liked to get as much information on a subject before deciding on a course of action.

“I have established that there was some kind of fight in the bar, but the reasons seem unclear. Also, I found out that Admiral Foster is current off the Starbase and that a Commander Frank Burgle is currently in charge. I just
reached the Relentless and it seems their XO is currently en-route to talk to him”. 

Autumn waited for a response.

“Well I will go and see if I can be of assistance.” 

Captain Deadilus turned to leave but quickly pivoted back.

“Autumn, good job on getting the power problem sorted out, and thank you for letting me know about Alex.”

Before she could respond the Captain had turned and left the bridge. Autumn felt herself blush at the compliment and left elated that her hard days work had been noticed and appreciated. She decided that on that note it was time to meet Ted for that drink. Tapping her combadge she asked him where he was.

[Got sidetracked] Autumn imagined that this particular side track was pretty and female.

“Ready for that drink” Autumn asked running her fingers along the edge of her consul.

[Sure – can I bring a friend?]

“Of course, I have invited another too. Shall we officially christen the Horizon watering hole?”

[Last one there is paying – Ted out]

Autumn smiled as she handed control of the bridge over to another and headed for a well-earned drink.
