Title: Causing Trouble

The conversation had been flowing easily as Ted amused the group with tells of his career as a doctor and some of his research fiascos. Autumn felt the knots in her neck easing and was starting to look forward to the launch of the ship and spending more time with her new crewmates. There seemed to be some consensus that what was happening on the station was very suspect and she wondered what Captain Deadilus was up to. The Chief of Operations didn't have to wait long for that thought to become clear.

"We have a problem."

The group turned to face the Captain who had entered the bar.

"Something suspicious is happening on the Starbase. There has been a lockdown and Captain Khavok is missing."

The Captain paused and waited for questions.

"What can we do to help?" Autumn was one-hundred percent on whatever side Captain Deadilus was on.

The Captain looked at the rest of the group and they nodded in agreement with Autumn.

"Firstly, we need to open a communication channel with the Relentless; Autumn can you work with communications and get that done?"

Autumn nodded.

"We also need to be on high alert. I don't want anything to happen to the Horizon whilst we are stuck on the starbase." The security chief nodded.

Scott then turned his attention to the two medical officers.

"Prepare for the worse and be prepared to assist the Relentless as their doctor hasn't arrived yet." The group got up to go about their duties.

The Starbase was trying to stop all communications. Autumn was getting very frustrated until finally they had some success and found an unblocked frequency.

"Commander Winters, this is Autumn Falls Operations Officer of the Horizon. I have secured this channel for communication - please stand by."

Autumn tapped her combadge and informed the Captain of their success. The COO pulled some data files on the Relentless' crew; like the Horizon most of the crew were new to the ship and very few people had served with Captain Khavok before. One name that popped out at Autumn was Maxine Jenna - she vaguely remembered Captain Deadilus mentioning a Maxine. As Autumn checked Maxine's service history she noticed that Scott had previously been her Chief onboard another ship.

"Autumn, anything new to report?"

Captain Deadilus had appeared silently at her side.

"No sir, they are still repeating the message that Captain Khavok is an escaped felon. One thing that might interest you is the new Chief of Science on the Relentless has arrived - It's Maxine Jenna."

A wide smile appeared on the Captain's face.

"Excellent! Can you get her on the communications channel."

Autumn quickly reprogrammed her panel and opened a link. After a brief catch up conversation which Autumn eavesdropped in on, the Captain and Maxine started throwing theories about on how they could locate Khavok using the Starbase's own systems to disguise their actions. It was impressive how quickly they manipulated the system to find the elusive Captain Khavok and as he was beamed to the Relentless, Autumn arrange Dr Matthews to be transport over as well. There was a brief moment of calm.

"Ok Autumn, we need to give them some breathing space. Any suggestions?"

Captain Deadilus had his thinking face on.

"Well, if we are hooked in to the Starbase computer we could cause a few distractions. I mean nothing dangerous, just time consuming. For example, false fire alarms and fake security calls."

Scott nodded. "Good idea. I will leave that to you. However, we could do with something that pulls attention away from the Relentless."

The silence last for only a few moments.

"Got it." Captain Deadilus had a wicked grin on his face.

"Sir?" Autumn was curious as to what the Captain was up to.

"Well, we have Khavok's bioprofile on record we could make it look like he is on the Horizon. Tell Tammin I'm on my way to see her."

With that Captain Deadilus left. Returning to the console Autumn told the Relentless their plan and then set about causing trouble on the Starbase. A small smile crept on to her face as she worked.
