Title: Preps for 'Horizon's Gateway'

Scene: USS Horizon


Ensign Tammin Doyle, Medical officer of the Horizon stepped into the establishment. Troy stared out the large windows, when he was startled by the new officer.

"I was just walking past and thought I would stop by, compliment you on a fine place you have here. Sorry if I startled you." Tammin announced.

"It's okay. Thank you for the compliment. Did you hear that I will be throwing an opening party?" Troy replied.

Tammin shook her head.

"Disappointing, disappointing, disappointing. I'll be very disappointed if you don't stop by, even for just a minute or two."

Tammin was a little surprised by the reaction. "I'll definitely stop by." she blurted.

After Ensign Doyle departed, Troy decided to send out a special invitation to everyone onboard the Horizon. He wanted everyone there, the other barman also knew this would be the best and biggest bash around. Whilst Jax was seeing to the invitations and organising the arrival of a group of officers to help decorate, Troy set about decorations which would illuminate and disappear against the glass with the aid of the holoprojector.

He had hoped to do all this without people coming in and out, for the surprise effect when the party began, but that wasn't feasible. The Bajoran was sure that this effect would give them a real show; it was, after all, a true centerpiece of the party displays. Troy thought it inevitable that new officers would get lost and many would end up at 'Horizon's Gateway' just to get directions from a computer display which was just outside of the turbolift.

With the decorating proceeding well, Troy turned to collect more items, almost bumping into someone. Troy went to apologise before noticing the four pips on his collar, and hesitated for a moment.

"Excellent job you've done here, Mr. Baker" the Captain complemented truthfully. During his initial inspection of the ship the mess hall and bar area had been used as storage space, and so the transformation was amazing. "I particularly like the name you've chosen. 'Horizon's Gateway' just feels... right."

"Well, thank you, Captain." Troy smiled.

"Now for the bad news though." Scott could see Troy's smile falter slightly. "I'm afraid the celebrations will have to be put on hold. We have a situation on Starbase 9 and we need everyone at their primary posts."

"I understand, Sir. Thank you for letting me know." Troy replied, turning to tell Jax the news and leaving the Captain to depart.
