Scene: Runabout Trinity - coming in to dock with the USS Horizon


Unblinking grim brown eyes stared from the depths of space, their gaze calculating and mocking. Cul’Dumok glared thoughtfully at his own reflection and through it to the stars beyond a caustic smile splitting his thin lips as he shrugged his broad shoulders. *If there are Gods out there then, indeed, they have a cunning sense of irony* Dumok thought to himself as he gazed down at his uniform, that of a Starfleet Ensign. It was his current view that the Gods, if they exist, were a group of seniles playing endless games upon the mortals they held in their thrall.

“How the mighty have fallen” he whispered to his mocking reflection. *Humans had a saying for his predicament* he thought to himself *what is it they say… sow the wind and reap the whirlwind*.

“You said something… Sir… er… Ensign?” the youthful Runabout pilot asked over his shoulder. It was obvious that the young human male was wondering what a Cardassian was doing here on the edge of known space and wearing a Starfleet uniform. Though after five years or more Cul’Dumok was used to strange looks and whispered comments in his wake that usually followed.

“Nothing Ensign” Cul’Dumok replied with a courteous smile “pondering on the vagaries of the universe that is all”.

“Er…right” the pilot said with a look that spoke volumes as he returned to the banks of controls in front of him. “There she is sir… the USS Horizon” the Ensign piped up a few moments later then contacted the USS Horizon “Runabout Trinity to USS Horizon permission to approach. Sending confirmation signal, delivering new crewmember Ensign Cul’Dumok”

Cul’Dumok leaned forward to gaze at the star ship that hung massive against the midnight backdrop of space and the world of. *So this is to by new home* Dumok pondered and sighed as he tapped his combadge…
