"Computer, begin personal log, Stardate: 60903.1656."

The computer chirped.

"If your reviewing this, then you are aware that my time has passed. I don't care to explain the reasons, it would take me a long time, and is something I would much rather forget. I have been unable to and death is the only thing I found that could ease my suffering. Please tell my family that I love them and I am very sorry. I only wish I had a proper chance to say goodbye."

Hunter proceeded over to the viewport and stared out.

"I have tried to fit in and forget all the painful memories. I wish that things had been different or that I had the courage to speak to someone about my thoughts. However, when I have thought about it..." his voice trailed off.

"I know that my death is selfish, and I apologise to whomever finds me. I know it seems I haven't made much of an effort to mingle with the crew... I only wish that you knew how much I have wanted to."

Hunter sighed, a tear rolling down his cheek.

"Over the past few months, I have watched the crew mingling. Captain Deadilus with Lieutenant Falls. Doctor Matthews with Ensign Doyle. Lt. Commander L'Cir when he talks about his children. Counsellor Malloy chatting to everyone he passes... I remember when I overheard a conversation - Peter Hill, the Horizon's Helm officer, said 'Be careful what you wish for, it may just come true'... If only..."

Hunter's voice trailed off again as he sat down...

"Computer save and end personal log" he instructed, placing his hands to his face to catch the tears.
