"Lieutenant Falls, I have the information you requested on the Dream Machines." Ensign Ralari managed to catch the Chief of Operations in the Transporter Room just before she headed down to the planet's surface.

"It seems the machines use a type of alpha wave to psychically drug the dreamer. Then the machine uses the alpha wave to synchronize itself with the cortex of the dreamer. The machine actually starts receiving information from all of the memory and sensory centers of the dreamers mind. They could conceivably pluck any information they wanted from the dreamer, memories, fantasies, any data that is controlled by the subject, names, passwords and tactical information. The possibilities are truly limitless with this technology."

The Chief of Operations looked stunned.

"There is more. It seems that a Vulcan ship encountered a vessel of refugees a few hundred years ago. These people only referred to themselves as 'The Lost' in the Som-Nyan language. They told the Vulcans that they were fleeing from their home world because their government had started invading the minds of its citizens and that their people were being punished for ideas that went against those of the people in charge of the planet. They also said that the punishments were worse than death - the people were simply erased and sentenced to a life of servitude."

Ralari finished his recount of what he had managed to uncover.

"I would also like to remind you that in orbit there are Ferengi, and they would pay a huge price for the information that could be gathered from those machines."

Autumn Falls took all of this information in. She reached up to her combadge.
