Scene: USS Horizon

Being an exploration vessel meant that they would often be faced with things that would make them stop and say ‘WOW!'. As the first of the huge spheres came into sight on the viewscreen Autumn, along with the rest of the bridge crew, stood in awe.

The sheer magnitude was mind-boggling and the elegance they eluded as they hung effortlessly in the space before them was breathtaking. Even with the ship now within visual range there was no obvious clue as to what lay within these giant spheres.

Assisting Tactical, Autumn was able to assure the Captain that there was no indication of any weapons charging up and high intensity scans of the local area detected no defensive military hardware.

The Chief of Operations could see an almost childlike delight on the Captain's face at this new discovery, and Autumn knew that she would definitely be left on the bridge whilst Scott went on one of the away teams.

As they cautiously edged forward Autumn's vivid imagination went wandering, thinking as to the spheres' possible purpose. Perhaps it was some mythological gods giant game of bowls!

Captain Deadilus bought her back to the present by asking for a ship-wide report. Each team came back quickly; the science team came back slightly more enthusiastically than usual as data poured in through all their sensors.

Cul'Dumok's words of caution about being hoodwinked by these magnificent objects and leaving our flank vulnerable to attack kept Autumn alert as she checked that Tactical were scanning more than just the spheres.

The Comm officer on duty confirmed that they weren't picking up any communications from in or around the spheres and nothing responded to their all-frequency hails. Autumn checked the recording feeds; they were certainly going to have something worth sending home.
