The small team materialized in a dark monochrome hallway.

"Lieutenant, I have located a power source," Tim announced.

"Okay, split up," Vaebn ordered. "Farris, Colieon - go to the power source. Adder, Dumok - we'll search the nearby area. I want the rest of you to stay here and set up a beam out point, a secure perimeter and communications link to the Horizon."

When he was satisfied that everything was getting underway properly, he set out with his exploratory team to further investigate the sphere. Since no scans could penetrate past the thick "hull" (more like a giant shell) they knew nothing about these inner paths. The halls were larger than they were used to on the Horizon, and much darker and less lively.

"The walls appear to be made out of carbon-neutroniumalong with more common metals. The ratio would suggest that they were formed from the natural mix of metals found in a planetary crust," Vaebn spoke aloud to no one in particular as he slowly advanced through the corridor with Adder and Dumok. "The walls appear to be ..." Vaebn stopped mid-sentence, standing still, with a worried look on his face.

"What is it?" Dumok asked in a worried hushed tone.

"Ensign, why is there gravity here?" Vaebn asked confused.

"Well... there are no signs of working graviton emitters, and ... yep, there definitely isn't enough matter below us to cause this great of a gravitational field. I don't know, my readings say there shouldn't be a gravitational field here," said an equally confused Ensign.

Just as he started to get lost in this new, odd development, his combadge interrupted his thoughts.

[Farris to Lieutenant Kehn.]

"Kehn here."

[Sir, I just lost communications with the ship and I am picking up a dampening field around this complex.]

"Regroup at the beam-in co-ordinates." Vaebn signaled to his team, to go back.

"Is everyone present and alright?"

A flurry of affirmatives.

"Is this area secure?"

"Yes, Sir"

"Okay. Now it's obvious from our scans that the dampening field is far too strong to beam through safely, and that it is spread too far to try getting out of it. This means that for now, we're stuck here on our own. Our only option is to try neutralizing the field."
