Title: The Colliery at the End of the Universe

Time: Current
Scene: Planet-side
The second away team materialized and Tammin immediately began scanning their
surroundings.
Prior to their arrival they knew the planet to be M-Class, but past that, the
heavy shielding had yielded very little data.
Of course, heavenly paradises are always hoped for, unforgiving hell-holes are
what you prepare for. This planet, however, appeared to be somewhere in between.
"Report?" Lt. Falls asked.
Tammin stared at the tricorder without looking up. "Other than high methane
readings that could compare to early 20th Century Earth, the oxygen and nitrogen
levels are all within an acceptable range."
"Methane?" Autumn questioned.
"My guess is it's coal related," Adder chirped up.
"On what have you based that theory?"
The young science officer motioned toward the black sooted cloud that hung heavy
over the slag dump in the distance.
"I see," The Lieutenant replied. "Recommendations?"
Emma finally spoke. "I think we should hide."
Autumn blinked. "Why?"
Before Emma uttered another word, the COO spotted the angry looking crowd making
its way over the hillside.
Autumn nodded. "Good plan."
