The attack on the planet had slowly begun to increase in intensity as Three and the strange new entity battled the Sphere's mind. They were slowly winning, but not fast enough to save the planet.

*Your friends are running out of time, as are you Three,* came the voice of the new entity.

*I know. I have a plan that will help them, but it will also destroy this sphere and possibly myself. Can you distract this entity while I attack a new system?* Three thought to the new entity.

*Yes, I am far stronger than this Sphere is. What are you planning?*

*You will soon understand. I will return shortly.*

With that Three disengaged and moved off to a remote area of the Sphere's matrix. While he moved he contacted Horizon to give them an update.

"Captain, we are receiving another hail from Sparky."

"Put him through." There was a momentary pause before the link was established. "Ensign, what is your status?"

[Sir, I am attempting to cause a retro-degradation of the sphere's systems that will cause the energy being fired at the planet to loop back onto itself. This will stop the attack and give you approximately 25 minutes to finish the evacuation and begin to leave the sphere. Approximately 30 minutes from the time the loopback begins, this sphere will be destroyed. I am also attempting to override the device planted by the sphere's consciousness that is keeping the transporters offline. Please inform the Engineering crew to reboot the transporter system once the device is disabled.]

Three paused for a second before continuing.

[I will attempt to get back to the ship before this happens, but do not wait for me or the Horizon will be destroyed. I am relaying this message to the shuttle that is orbiting this station so they can move to a safe distance. Three out.]

Three was forced to close the transmission as the Sphere had begun to attempt to listen in on the conversation.

*You have failed in your attempt to monitor my communication. You should be more worried about what the other entity is doing and not my conversation,* Three thought as he resumed his attack.

*Why do you do this? I am no threat to you.* The Sphere responded in what seemed to be desperation.

*You are a malfunctioning system. You are a threat to life in this region of space. You must be stopped,* Three responded.

With that he unleashed his full assault on the system.
