Title: Who’s Your Daddy?
Author: CMO Ted Matthews
Time: After "Keeping It In The Family"
Scene: USS Horizon
Ted caught himself looking at Lily and quickly pulled himself up sharp; this
woman was the Captain’s daughter, so therefore he was old enough to be her
father and, if she was born on this ship and Ted managed to hang on to his
position as CMO, he might even end up delivering her!
The soft laugh stopped the runaway train thoughts that were crashing through his
head.
"Something funny?" The more the CMO looked at her the more he saw gestures and
postures he knew were from Scott. There was, however, another very familiar and
striking part of her that he recognised.
"I can see it all skipping through your head, hundreds of questions and possible
conclusions." They were walking to the guest quarters and until now they had
done it in silence.
"You sound like you know me, but I don’t expect you to answer that." Lily nodded
her head in understanding.
She paused as the doors to the guest quarters opened.
"What’s wrong?" Ted was puzzled.
"It is just so... well, luxurious." This only added to Ted’s confusion. After
all, this was the daughter of Captain Deadilus - you would think her life would
have been a lot easier because of that fact, and yet here she was marvelling at
a few creature comforts.
Lily slowly walked around the room touching objects.
"I did notice that when I scanned you you’re slightly anaemic. Do you get tired
quickly?"
"I rarely sleep," the young woman responded.
"Hardly the same thing!" Ted put on his tough but caring Doctor’s face
"No, but times are very different in the future."
"Well, make sure you take advantage of this opportunity to eat well and get some
sleep."
"Thank you, Dr. Matthews."
As he left her alone he headed back to Medical; there was something he had to
check.

Something about her parentage was bothering him. There was no doubt she was in
fact Scott’s child - it was her age and the familiarity he felt, even though
technically he had yet to meet her.
He put security measures in place to keep this test private and then ran a
comparison. It didn’t take him long to confirm what he guessed he knew
subconsciously anyway - he already knew Lily’s mother, as she was on this ship.
