Title: Unknown Beginning

Time: A Few Days Previously
Scene: USS Exeter


Ensign Colón awaited his turn to beam over to his first starship assignment. The young Starfleet graduate is very proud of himself at this point... well, why wouldn’t he be? He was accepted into Starfleet's first accelerated Medical program. A total of one hundred and twenty students had been selected and, among those, he was one of fourteen to complete the program. The program made the students finish the academy in only two and a half years, thereafter he would spend the next three years preparing to become one of the best Medical Doctors Starfleet could produce. 

"Sir..." the Crewman said for a second time. Gabriel shook his head and looked toward the crewman.

"Yes?" Gabriel answered a bit hesitant.

"Sir, it’s your turn. Your destination is the USS Horizon, isn't it?" He asked respectfully. Gabriel took his bag and threw it over his shoulder, he hesitated a second, standing up slowly. 

"Yes, Crewman, it’s my first assignment," Gabriel answered as he took his position on the pad. The crewman nodded looking to the young ensign, giving him a thumbs up.

"Good luck, Sir." 

Before Gabriel could wave back, the crewman activated the transport and beamed the Ensign over to Transporter Room 1 onboard the USS Horizon. 

*I don’t think I will ever get used to that!* Gabriel thought. 

"Welcome aboard, Sir. Commander Matthews would like for you to put your things down in your quarters and report to him for further instructions in sickbay," the crewman said without looking up from station. Gabriel nodded and started to walk out, he looked back to the crewman and raised a brow.

*Isn't he supposed to stand at attention when I enter or leave a room?* He shrugged it off and looked about...

"Now... where is the lift so I can get to deck four?" Gabriel walked down the hallway, nodding to the crewmen who stood to the side as he walked by. He found the lift and immediately went to his quarters putting his things down. 

"Computer," Gabriel stated. "Please download my assignment to this datapadd so I may familiarize myself with my duties."

<Task Complete>

Gabriel nodded and straightened his uniform. 

"Great! Now time to report to sickbay. This is going to be great!"

The Ensign walked briskly to the lift. While going up in the lift he grew more nervous, feeling his hand sweat a bit. Ensign Colón walked into sickbay and stood at attention in front of Lt. Commander Matthews

"Ensign Colón reporting for duty, Sir!" He said with a salute.
