Author: Emma Smith
Time: Current
Scene: USS Horizon - Sickbay
As Ted turned back towards one of the other patients, a hand reached out and
grabbed his arm. He turned to see Gabriel standing before him. He was not the
same - his body seemed to look stronger, his muscles more defined, the white of
his eyes a pale yellow and his face very harsh and cold-looking.
“Doctor, I can help you,” he answered...

Lt. Commander Dr. Edward Matthews had been around the block more than once.
During his time as a Dominion War field doctor he'd had more occasions than he
cared to remember where one patient was being shot while he was working on
another. However, this was something almost unheard of in his sanctuary sickbay.
"Smith, WHAT THE HELL??" He snapped as he hurried to check Colon's vital signs.
Emma pursed her lips and gave the end of her phaser a little blow before
replacing it in its holster. "It looked like he was about to attack you."
The CMO's glare was incredulous. "And exactly HOW did you make that
determination?" He motioned to several orderlies to place Gabriel back on his
biobed.
"Look, anyone full of that much detox juice who can jump up and ripple muscles
he didn't have 2 hours ago... seems to me might be a threat... not to mention
those glowing yellow eyes."
*Security types.* He shook his head.
"My phaser was set to mild stun. He'll be fine. And if I'm right, you now have
time to bind him down and check him proper before he comes to again."
Ted reluctantly nodded to the orderlies to restrain him... and considered doing
the same to Emma.
"Is there a reason that you're here... or did you just need a place to rehearse
your OK Corral dinner theater."
"Actually, Doc... we've got a kookamoid Borg trying to tear a hole in our brig."
"Kookamoid? You don't have any Medical Training at all, do you Smith."
Emma looked surprised. "None. How'd you know?"
"Lucky guess."
"Think you could stop in and give Sparky a look-see? I left Ensign Beehan with
him, but he seems a little skittish."
Colon moaned, he was starting to gain consciousness.
Ted quickly turned his attention toward him. "Yes," he waved a dismissive hand.
"I'll be down as soon as I finish here."
Emma nodded. "Thanks... oh... and if I was wrong about Gab... tell him I'll real
sorry, K?"
"I'll do that," Ted replied as he double checked his readings. "But I don't
think you were..."
