Title: Once a Doctor, Always a Doctor
Author: Ensign Colón
Time: Current
Scene: Sickbay
The young Ensign shook his head trying to get his bearings right. That blast was
much unexpected. Gabriel gently eased himself up off the biobed, slowly looking
to Dr. Matthews, who at the present time was stepping back, as were the other
personnel of the sickbay crew. He looked at the expression of fear many seemed
to share at the sight of him. Gabriel shook his head and caught a glimpse of his
reflection.
"Oh my God... what happened to me? Why am I..." Suddenly an emotion of rage
filled the young Ensign as his fists came crushing down on the biobed. "I am
going to kill those Rennas! What cowards! And Plunk’Sel... he will pay for
everything he has done..." Suddenly the Ensign stopped what he was doing and
cupped his face... "Oh no..."
Dr. Matthews placed his hand on the security officer’s phaser making him lower
it. "What is it Gabriel? Why 'oh no'?" He asked
Gabriel balled his fists, he was so angry at himself. "Doctor, I believe we are
in grave danger".
Ted simply nodded. "Okay, go on"
"Sir, when Plunk’Sel injected me with those bio-toxins, he was also able to
access my memories, thoughts and feelings. I believe he and the other Rennas now
have information about the ship," Gabriel admitted closing his eyes. "I have
failed as a Starfleet Officer, Sir."
Ted sighed and gave the Ensign a nod. "Doctor to the Captain..."
[Go ahead Doctor]
"Captain, Ensign Colón is conscious. He remembers what the Rennas have done to
him, and he believes that they have tactical information about the Horizon
through memory and thought extraction," Ted stated.
[Understood. Maybe this can work both ways. Does Ensign Colón remember anything
we can use against the Rennas? A weakness they may have exposed?]
"I don’t know yet, Sir, but first I would like to conduct some tests to see if
the Ensign is alright physically as well as emotionally."
[Complete your evaluation as soon as you can, Doctor. Deadilus out.]
Ted looked back to Gabriel as he was slowly getting up. Ted was cautious,
watching his every move. The Ensign looked about the sickbay; there were many
casualties already because of the Rennas. He didn’t waste any time, his Doctor's
instinct took over as he walked over to Lily scanning her vital signs.
"Sir, I need a neural inducing agent to wake up Lily. I believe if we shock her
system, her body will react positively and hopefully let her regain
consciousness."
Ted walked over to Lily looking to Gabriel. In theory the process could work but
Ted also knew it could backfire and cause more damage to the future-Captain.
"You know this could have adverse effects if she doesn’t take it well."
Gabriel nodded and looked to Ted, his yellow eyes pleaded with him. "Please
Commander, let me make things right for all the wrong I unconsciously have
done."
Ted took a moment to think and finally passed Gabriel the correct amount of
medication to give Lily; before he let go they caught gazes again. Gabriel
nodded, knowing what would happen if he were wrong. He took the inducer and
injected it into Lily’s neck. Her body shook a bit as her vital signs spiked for
a second then fell back to normal, her eyes opened wide as she breathed in
deeply, shocked to be in an awakened state.
Lily sat up quickly trying to get out of the sickbay bed. "Where am I? What
happened? Who are you?" She asked. Gabriel placed his hands on her shoulders
trying to calm her down.
"Ma’am, you are in Sickbay back on the Horizon. I am Ensign Colón, I gave your
crew their examinations before going down to the planet. You were unconscious,
Ma’am... other than that, I don’t know the rest myself," he concluded.
Ted smiled looking over to Lily. "Welcome back, it was touch and go there."
Lily placed her hand on her head trying to get the cobwebs out. "I need to talk
to Captain Deadilus... now"
