It was miraculous really that more people hadn’t been injured when the Horizon had crash-landed. But luckily the plot that the ship had finally come to rest on had been sparsely populated and the group had been alerted to the ‘thing’ falling from the sky in time to avoid what would have been certain death.

Ted guessed it was lucky that Cochran had crash-landed where he did. A computer connection established with one of the planet's computers showed that they had come to a stop in a less affluent area; if they had landed a kilometre to the east their bill for the damage would probably have doubled.

The bridge was quiet with Captain Deadilus and his away team out looking for the missing Security and Operations Officers. Ted couldn’t help but ponder their original mission; the comet was still on a collision course with this planet, and, in their current position, them as well. The Doctor was trying to remember how long the science team had predicted it would be before it hit here and with this in mind he hoped the away team would return quickly.

“Sir,” Ted was awoken out of his ponderings by the new Operations Officer.

“Yes, Ensign.”

“I am picking up multiple lifeforms at the aft of the ship,” Gridley said.

“Can you tell what they are doing?” Ted wanted to ascertain whether or not they were just harmless sightseers.

“No, Sir”

It was understandable that people would be curious about the ship that had crash-landed, but Ted was very aware of the potential damage that could occur if some of their technologies ended up in the wrong hands.

“Lt. Commander Matthews to Lieutenant Dumok.”

[Dumok here,] the Security Officer was quick to respond.

“Are all the repair crews back on the ship?”

[Yes, Sir. All repair crews have completed their tasks and are accounted for back on the ship.]

“There is a gathering at the aft of the ship. There doesn’t seem to be any attempt at boarding, but maybe you should have a security contingent ready.”

[Understood, Doctor.]

Ted hoped the Captain returned soon before he had to make any decisions that caused an incident with the locals.
