Title: Rapunzel's Tower (Part 1)

Scene: The Enchanted Forest


As the Captain continued to walk towards the tower along the only path that seemed to exist through the forest, he couldn't help but try his combadge every few minutes. Each and every time he was greeted with the same beep notifying him that something was wrong.

And so the Captain followed the path before him.

The circular stone tower loomed over him, the conical top making the sight something resembling an arrow pointing straight up towards the heavens. As he walked around the tower, looking for a way in, he was mildly surprised to find none. In fact, the only part of the tower that was not 'wall' was the singular window several stories up. As he watched the window, he saw the shadows of movement from within.

Deadilus cupped his hands around his mouth. "Hello!" he bellowed.

After a second a figure appeared at the window. Scott shook his head and failed to suppress a smile.

"Captain!" Lieutenant Commander Falls called back. "I seem to be stuck up here - there is no way out."

"And there is no way up either - no doorways or stairs, and the walls seem solid enough," Deadilus contributed.

The two Starfleet officers were silent for a second.

"Sir, if I remember my fairytales then you are supposed to climb my hair..."

Autumn stepped back, gathering up her metres of hair, before throwing them at the single window forming her only connection to the outside world. She leapt back in surprise as the hitherto unseen forcefield reflected her hair back into the room. Down below, Deadilus saw the forcefield illuminate momentarily, now a little more worried.

"Autumn?! Are you okay?" The Chief of Operations re-appeared at the window a moment later, having had to avoid quite literally tripping over her own hair.

"Yes, Sir, I'm fine, but there is a forcefield stopping me from throwing my hair to you."

As the Captain racked his brains once more to recall the story from old, he tried the only thing he could think of...

"Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair..."
