Title: And Teddy Makes Six
Authors: Emma Smith
Time: After "I Smell..."
Scene: Planet-side
As the dust slowly settled, Emma hiked up her skirt and rather unceremoniously
plopped herself down in the grass. "Well," she began as the others followed
suit, "that was interesting."
"What," asked the CMO while catching his breath, "in the HELL is going on?"
With a nearly inaudible sigh, Emma proceeded to catch Ted up on all that had
happened so far; beginning with the Seven Dwarves and concluding with Gitta's
'Fairy Godfather'.
"So you're saying that we have to complete some kind of quest?"
Emma shrugged. "I'm not saying that we have to do anything. It does, however,
explain a lot."
Gitta nodded. "This grid," she motioned with her hand, "must have been used by
the planet's former inhabitants. When the Grimalkin showed up, the computer must
have detected their life signs and seeing as how none of them registered as
citizens, the program brought them here."
"Great," Ted yanked a piece of clover from the ground, "that explains how the
Grimalkin's crew and we came to be here... but why all the fairytale stuff?"
Ensign Sparky unexpectedly proffered an answer. "We are all from various
backgrounds. Our histories and upbringing are quite different. However,
folktales appear to transcend all that. They were probably the one common bond
that the computer could use universally."
"Fair enough." Ted pulled the leaves from the clover, one by one. "So what do we
do now?"
Ross got to his feet. "There's only one thing we can do."
Emma nodded. "We have to head for the castle. That's where the Grimalkin crew
are and it's a good bet that it may also house the main power source."
"What about the loss of memory?" Remmick spoke up.
"At the first sign of any confusion... we stop."
"Then what?"
Emma smiled. "Then you figure something out to disrupt that computer program."
"Oh is that all?" Marc shook his head. "Want me to pull a rabbit out of my hat
while I'm at it?"
Ted chuckled and turned to Emma and Ross. "Yanno you two look like you just fell
off Snow White's wedding cake."
Smith rolled her eyes. "Puh-lease..." she crooked a thumb toward Ross. "His idea
of romance is he'd pop the beer can away from my face."
As the rest suppressed a giggle, Sparky made a mental note to recheck humanoid
mating habits at his first opportunity.
