PROMOTIONS POLICY
Apart from enjoying the 'game', the aim of almost every writer is to get promoted. Typically starting
from Ensign (although a writer may choose to start from 4th-year Cadet
or Crewman),
the following items are measured to assess promotion to Lieutenant
Junior Grade (similar rules apply to NCO ranks):
- Active duration* at present rank
(see table below).
- Consistency to storyline.
- Quality of posts.
- Quantity of posts.
* 'Active duration'
is defined as regular posting at levels applicable to the
current rank / vessel status, but will usually be one post
per fortnight as a minimum.
|
This process is then repeated
for promotion to Lieutenant (Senior Grade), Lt. Commander and ultimately
Commander.

Promotion criteria for the rank of Captain are yet to be determined.
These will be carried out as and when necessary. |
Note that the durations and minimum number of posts listed above are a
minimum (counting is typically capped at 1 post / week). Writing
this minimum number of posts and for the
minimum duration does not guarantee a character promotion - the
decision ultimately lies with the vessel Commanding Officer and Star
Trek : Infinity administration.
If you feel that you are overdue a promotion, please email and discuss
with your Commanding Officer before approaching the administration.
