Infinity Quarterly
March 2007
One-year Anniversary Edition
Happy Birthday To Star Trek : Infinity!
On March 1st 2006, at one minute past midnight (UTC/GMT), Captain Scott Deadilus of the USS Horizon sent out Infinity’s first post, titled
"The Horizon Line", and officially opened the website. Two days later Captain Alex Khavok wrote the first post on the USS Relentless, titled
"That New Car Smell". Many posts and new writers later Infinity has grown to be a PBEM RPG to be proud of.
The style of writers and stories is extremely diverse, with some characters building up interesting personal interactions and others developing some fascinating twists in storylines. Meanwhile, the two ships have taken quite different paths, with the Horizon concentrating on scientific exploration whilst the Relentless focuses on exploring (or simply surviving) alternate universes. Both making Infinity a uniquely interesting read.
Overall, the standard of stories submitted has shown a steady increase in creative quality, with writers joining us as novices now sending in progressively more impressive posts. Of course, it never hurts to remind everyone to put their posts through a spell checker before sending it in!
Site
Over the last three months there have been lots of updates to the website due to the high number of posts and new writers. With our anniversary, we would once again ask you to review your bioprofiles and make any necessary changes/additions.
We have added to our FAQ’s including advice on 'superpowers' and the use of telepathy. Captain Deadilus is also trialling a new 'mission specification' document with this storyline to help everyone grasp the basic concept of the story and he would, as always, appreciate any feedback.
The crew rosters have also had an update. If you now click on the underlined department title (Command, Medical, etc) a list will appear detailing playing and non-playing characters and their position. Bioprofiles will be added to these NPC’s shortly, helping us all to keep the same ‘background’ faces consistent.
Stories
The USS Horizon's Som-Nyan storyline ended in the dramatic destruction of a Ferengi ship and the daring rescue of Lieutenant Kehn. Whilst waiting for a new mission to start the Security team undertook a training mission that went
wrong; meanwhile the Engineering and Science team worked on a few glitches. The new mission is set to be an exciting one with the discovery of eight planet-sized metallic sphere structures found in the Brodarn system by the Deep Space Array Mitra (another item that will hopefully be recurring in the Horizon storylines).
Meanwhile, the USS Relentless is still in the parallel universe where the Dominion War is raging. When they saved Federation civilians they also recovered an Omega bomb. With one painful strike on the sentient ship, the assassin John Galt was able to steal the bomb and deliver it to its buyer. In an ultimate twist of fate, we now discover that Admiral Foster is its buyer and is intending to use it. The Omega Directive of our home universe is clear - we should destroy the bomb. But with the assassin now possibly interested in the Relentless can we really interfere or should we be running for the hills?
If you have any ideas that you would like to write for future storylines then please get in contact with us via admin@st-infinity.co.uk - both Captains need to have an idea of the plot before beginning writing so that they can help direct and marshal the story’s progress.

Other
Many people make Infinity great, and each and every writer’s contribution makes the game worthwhile. However, special praise and thanks have to go to Scott for his continued creative genius on the website - I know how much time and effort he puts into maintaining such a fantastic (and unique!) site.
Many thanks for reading.
Kind regards,
Amy
