Born in 2356 to Bruce and Melinda
Adams, Laurence lived a comfortable life in a small community
outside of one of the old domes from the early days of
colonization. His father worked in construction on the planet,
while his mother was one of the nameless cogs that keep the
Federation running. They lived a comfortable life planet-side, but
Laurence always wanted more.
He was a troubled student in school for many years, just smart
enough to skate through, but not too smart to realize that things
weren't always going to be so easy. At the age of sixteen, he
first made the decision to try for Starfleet Academy. He was
denied access four years in a row.
In the meantime, he worked on his education, trying to get into
Starfleet, but he got a job on a Merchant Marine ship. The
Merchant Mariners lacked the discipline of a trained Starfleet
Officer, so Laurence never quite meshed with the crew, constantly
having to break up fights and deal with drunken crew mates.
Finally, he got his acceptance into the Academy. The Captain of
the Merchant ship he'd served on wasn't too upset to see him go,
his sense of duty didn't fit on that crew.
Due to this experience, and the work that Ensign Adams did at the
Academy, he was found to have aptitude as a Security officer. He
wasn't afraid to fight, and was good at subduing his opponents in
non-harmful fashions. He proved himself to be a fair shot with a
phaser as well. Graduation came, and Laurence sent out his
application to several ships in the fleet, hoping to hear back
good news. One ship in particular had caught his interest: the
Relentless. New Worlds. Who didn't want to see them? |
