Duncan Heyward is the only child of Captain
Marie Heyward and Dr. Andrew Heyward. Born on Earth while his
parents were on leave, he was raised on starships.
He applied for the Academy but was turned down
due to low percentile markings, so he enlisted in the Starfleet
Marines. He rose quickly through the enlisted ranks, winning a
battlefield commission during the Dominion War while conducting
covert operations behind enemy lines. With the war over, he
transferred to starship duty for some peace and quiet. |

temporarily converted to Fleet Rank while on assignment.
