Thess, as his friends and associates call him,
is a graceful and elegant Deltan who seems both demure and
carefully respectful of others. He moves with a grace and ease of
movement that belies an age that normally requires a bit more
care. He is in excellent physical condition and has a few
hair-thin scars on his body in odd places. He usually dresses in
layered elegant robes or goes in sheer but modest ponchos and
formal clothing.
Born on Delta IV, Thess was precocious even for
the average Deltan child and showed empathic awareness even
pre-natal. While not overly unusual, Thess was conscious and had a
sense of personality prior to birth and was aware through the
birth process. It took only a few weeks for him to begin speaking,
a few months to have the muscular and motor skills to begin
walking. To the Deltans it was as if he already knew these things
and merely had to be reminded.
Needless to say, Thess entered primary
educational crèche at a time when his peers were still in
swaddling and struggling to develop basic language skills. Not a
genius by any means, he seemed to assimilate information quickly
and be able to turn it to practical use, lending the growing
belief that he already knew these things.
By the age of fifteen Thess had already
complete all of educational requirements and had become a Healer,
showing a high degree of empathy and the spiritual strength to use
his abilities in that discipline. He was allowed to practice
medicine in his provincial House of Healing until the age of
nineteen when the 'Am'Tet', or Priesthood of Experiential
Ascension, approached him to become an Am.
It was a great honor and fewer than one in a
thousand Deltans were chosen for some sort of duty as a Priest, a
few of which became great spiritual and social leaders. Thess
entered seclusion and began the long road of training that would
make him an Am'Lat and earn him the Khaev'Lam, of the Art of Body
Control. This Art, while far more than a simple Oath of Celibacy,
allowed a Deltan to go amongst the races of the Galaxy and affect
them very little. Like the deep Vulcan disciplines of the Adepts,
the Khaev'Lam allowed Deltans to control their pheromonal
production and to go on missions and travel about without being
obviously Deltan.
Well, as inobvious as a fashion-conscious and
elegant being can be.
At the age of 32, Thess emerged from the Halls
of Seclusion, having recovered from his ordeals and was given a
task. He would go to earth and apply to Starfleet to become an
Ambassador. |

| Attributes |
|
|
|
|
|
| Strengths /
Talents: |
Discipline and Control,
Sensitivity and Empathy, smart, attractive and ready to become
friends. |
| Weaknesses /
Limits: |
Thess is vulnerable to
certain common effects. Many Deltans are affected by a form of
Dysphasia caused by massive and sudden changes in state and/or the
order of the Universe around them. Rough transports, sudden loss of
warp field harmonics or even a subspace rift in close proximity will
often drive a Deltan into shock. Thess is affected badly by these
and carries a personal kit to handle it if he has time to administer
his sedatives properly.
Also, chocolate to a Deltan is similar as to a cat - deadly
poison. It is addictive and highly pleasurable to the enhanced
senses of a Deltan but it slowly breaksdown the neural linkages and
can drive a Deltan mad. |
| Ambitions: |
To become the Deltan
Ambassador to the Federation Council before he turns 100. |
| Special
Abilities: |
As a Deltan Thess is an
Empath and is able to detect emotions from all beings that have
them, unless they are unable to be read. However, Thess is also
telepathic and has had his abilities honed to a fine edge, like the
windswords he is proficient with. He is a First Contact Specialist
and is skilled at observing and interpreting the behavior of other
species to determine how their minds work and how best to approach
them.
Also as a Deltan, through his natural empathy, he can sense
injuries and the nature of them, determining an illness and using
the minimum amount of medicine to treat them. As an Am'Lat, Thess
has learned to take that a step further and can use his own
abilities in place of some medicines.
Also, Deltans have an innate sense of which direction "home" is.
This is the source of their problem with Dysphasia because the
effect temporarily knocks this sense out, driving them into shock. |
| Traditions: |
Prayer and meditative
practice of the most mundane things. Ritual forms the foundation for
my life, from my exercise rituals to my meal preparation rituals. It
is a rich tapestry that I weave new and old experiences into evey
day. |
| Strong Beliefs: |
Deltan mysticism and
spirituality evolves around the central practice of "sharing"
experiences. Sex is the favorite team sport on Deltan, true, but
they also use such deep intimate contact to share their experiences
in deep rapport. It is in this sharing of memories and increase of
experiences that Deltans believe they evolve closer and closer to
joining with the Source. They believe in an endless cycle of birth,
death and rebirth is which a soul gains experiences and returns to
the Source to be judged and either accepted or sent back to seek
more experiences in the next life. |
| Likes: |
A new fabric pattern, a
new color, a new planet, a new language, a new person to meet and
get to know. |
| Dislikes: |
Wilful ignorance. |
| Marital Status: |
Thess has three
contractual alliances, from which there have been seven offspring.
To date he has not found a true mate nor has he shown any
inclination of a desire or personal need to do so, enjoying the
experiences of many new people and species. |
| Quirks: |
Thess is an elegant
being and as such draws a great deal of attention. He spends a great
deal of attention on his appearance and has an extensive wardrobe so
that he may be dressed appropriately for whatever function, in
whatever company, he may be.
His quarters are always decorated in the Deltan style, which are
opulent but simply, elegant and yet functional. He seeks to build
relationships with others to create a foundatio of community from
which to operate. |

1. Promoted to `Am`leth and given a field
assignment that under Species Sovereignty Protocols is Sealed
2. Returned to Delta IV and after several months
announced, took exams for and began Starfleet Academy
Medical/Diplomatic School.
3. Starfleet Medical Neurological Research and
Treatment Center, Daystrom Institute, Earth, Researcher and
Instructor
4. USS Shrike – Chief Diplomatic Officer. Was
assigned in experimental class ship under a CO best described as
`difficult`. As Human and a bigot, the Captain and Thess clashed a
few times until Thess was forced to guide him back; twice. The
Captain was unfortunately a daring individual who circumvented
regulations regarding his safety at every turn. After those events
they seemed to share some of each others quirks which has taken
Thess many years to suppress. The Captain, however, lacked the
strength of discipline to block Thess's mellowing influence and has
become nearly `pleasant`. Shrike was nearly destroyed during an
action that is currently sealed by Starfleet under
black-strike-strike-omega clearance |
