"They found it" Ensign Adanima spoke.

"You can't possibly know that!" Maximillian laughed.

"Of course I can." Adanima began. "He may have been a human male version of myself, but he was eerily familiar and on guard. He struck me as the type to do a sweep of the vessel after a transit."

"Our Special Ops people are some of the best there are, but apparently they had little time onboard the other vessel. This was their first transit and as such they were more wary than some of our previous selves have been."

Commander W'ntrok explained as if by way of excusing the device possibly being found.

"It doesn't matter," Maximillian stated, "as we have over sixty other recorders out there. The last few databursts received have been interesting though - the same enemy encountered time and time again in different universes. We are still analysing the data but it would appear we are not the only inter-universal travellers out there."

"Should we warn the others? We know where most of their home universes lie now." Ensign Tel spoke up, and a few heads turned towards her and then to the Captain.

She visibly mulled the thought over. Although the Relentless's transit drive, as they had nicknamed it, had been removed, she knew where it remained and could get hold of it with lots of ill-gotten gold-pressed latinum and minimal bloodshed.

"No. We tell the Allied Federation of Planets Council, and leave it up to them. But we all know their stance: 'The problems of other universes are no concern of ours'. They'll probably remind us about the near-miss we had in the Borg-ruled universe or the one with the Cardassian Free Union."

Her face was hard and cold as she spoke, her Romulan features giving away nothing.

"And they may be right."
