Title: Detonate then Energize, No wait! Energize then Detonate!
Author: Lt. Kal Vilmer
Scene: Transporter room
Time: During/after "Evacuation"

The blonde engineer rode "herd" over the crewman manning the transporter terminal. Kal kept to himself allowing a slight chuckle or perhaps an eye roll as the commands came back from the Solar Wind. Kal said nothing but continued scanning for the black box. A short time later Kal had locked onto his prize and after informing the Captain he beamed it to cargo bay two.

Vilmer looked up from his console as Ambassador Tal walked into the room. Even without his being Deltan, the man was hard to miss. As his brain registered the fact that Tal was Deltan, Kal realized instead of being attracted to him he felt clarity and a heightening of his awareness. From what little he did know about the Deltan species he expected feelings of attachment, he found it odd that they were not there or at least severely muted.

Thessyr greeted the steady stream of refugees calming them and quieting them while security personnel assigned quarters for them. When Dr. Anderson's request came over the comm for the site-to-site transfer Kal took over from the crewman and began making necessary adjustments so that when the request did come from the away team commander it was a simple matter beam the most wounded directly to sickbay.

A steady stream of refugees appeared as time continued to count down. A smallish man passed them by then. He was well dressed and very collected. He had none of the panic of the rest of the crew from the Solar Wind and gave only those answers required of him.

The pressure mounted as time passed. Vilmer continued to monitor channels and made those adjustments necessary for Levi and Adams to complete their mission. With each second more of the tortured ships crew was beamed to safety. An unusual order came down the pipe by the away team leader. That was to beam out all remaining crew with the exception of himself. Kal complied with the order and left it up to the Captain to sort out the rest. When contact was abruptly severed on the Solar Winds' side Vilmer sprang into action. He massaged the controls of the Relentless' transporter to get a firm lock on Levi. Having had some practice in the area, Kal was able to compensate for the disturbances caused be the self destructing ship.

Kal tapped his combadge, "Lieutenant Jenna, could you pipe sensory data down to my terminal here in transporter room one."

[Of course, why?]

"Just a hunch, I have a feeling this beam out is going to be tricky and I want to make sure I can get Yoni out safely."

[You got it.]

Kal waited for word from Yoni, preparing to beam him out with or without his request as time quickly evaporated. Vilmer was spared the necessity of interfering with the away team as Yoni's intense call for help came at the last second. Hands flowing over the controls, the CEO of the Relentless arranged his own site-to-site transport. Having heard the brusque manner with which the away team was treated, Kal beamed the Ops Chief directly into the waiting hands of the ship's doctor.

*Besides, have to bring him back in one piece, wouldn't do to have him die in combat and miss the reaming that's coming from the old man* the blonde mused happily to himself.

On the bridge the Captain waited for Kal's announcement that his crew and the refugees from the Solar Wind were safely onboard. He then turned to his tactical officer and executed the plan to deploy the tricobalt devices in conjunction with the antimatter torpedoes. As the weapons were launched the Relentless fled the field at maximum warp.
