Title: Loose Ends Part Two, The Assassin's Story

The Assassin took the news in stride. He was not surprised that the bomb had disappeared there would have been no way to mask its identity from the from the ships computer during transport. John had assured the freighter captain he need have no fear on that account. Merdlock would die for putting them in a position where the bomb had to pass through a transporter system. It was a strange twist of fate that had saved the assassins life and kept his bomb intact. All he had to do was find it. He set about that task as soon as Merdlock left.

John removed an access panel and exposed a portion of the Relentless' bio neural network. Being careful not to come in contact with the gel itself the assassin put his tricorder near the gel and removed the adhesive backing to a device which he then attached to his left temple. Breathing in and out deeply he relaxed into his chair and projected his consciousness into the Relentless' network.

The only thing that gave the Assassin any trouble at all as he ghosted through Relentless' network was the odd differences in coding. Nothing could have prepared the Assassin for what happened next. 

"Hi, who are you and what are you doing here?" a young girl asked.

"Well hello there, I'm John and I was just taking a look around, I fear I may have become lost."

"You are in a restricted area. I don't think the Captain or Abby would like you in here."

As the girl talked John assessed her, her programming was unbelievably complex. He would have suspected her as an artificial intelligence but her manner was oddly naïve. There was no mistaking the power however. Galt drew near the girl and without warning launched a devastating kick at her knee. The girl fell clutching her shattered knee, she had made no sound and had felt no pain. Various lights on the Relentless flickered and returned to normal and random anomalies were recorded in various sub systems.

"That wasn't very nice. I don't think I like you very much," the girl said launching a surprising complex counterattack.

In his quarters the assassin's body twitched.

Relly fought bravely and ferociously, but for all her power she was untrained. Before she lost consciousness she sent a cry for help to Abby and Kal. John looked down at the unconscious girl for a moment before continuing on his search. He knew he had to hurry. The kind of disruptions caused by that fight would soon bring other operators on to the system. He rather doubted he'd find any more actually within the system, but finding the girl was strange enough.

Galt found his wayward bomb and left commands in the system to allow him to easily retrieve it, and once he did to make it look as if the bomb was still there. Erasing his tracks he threaded his way back through the network and logged out. He shook himself to clear the fog and looked at his chronometer. A little over two minutes had passed. The assassin then turned his mind to the physical aspects of his problem.
