Title: Out Of The Loop
Author: Administrator Godron Owbron
Time: Since the jump into this universe to the current time
Scene: USS Relentless
He would never admit it but when they had jumped into this universe and the
first shots had been fired he had actually closed his eyes and thought of his
happy place. Recently he had amended his happy place to include Maxine.
Obviously in this fantasy she was less formally attired than the Administrator
had ever seen her.
But yes, Godron was a coward.
The Administrator hated to admit it but this half-baked crew had held it
together and got them to a slightly safer space. Godron had liked the reflected
glory he felt from the grateful civilian survivors as he passed amongst them in
the cargo bay.
This had placed him in reasonably good humour and he even kept his moans to a
low grumble when a few sparks flew from his console when the Relentless was
having her problems. The news of the attack on the sentient Relly didn’t provoke
any kind of reaction from him. In fact, he couldn’t see what all the fuss was
about – she was only a machine after all.
His good humour was short-lived however, and as he went about cataloguing the
recovered cargo he was displeased to hear rumours that he had been kept out of
the loop on a very important matter.
*My lobes HAVE been tingling,* thought the Ferengi as more reports reached his
ears. Working himself up into an indignant outrage he made his way to the
bridge; he would confront the Captain directly.
Clayton and Tarek had been sharing a joke as they worked on the bridge when the
Administrator flounced in - they knew their shift was just about to become a lot
harder. Not only had the Captain given strict instructions not to be disturbed
whilst he spoke with this universe’s Admiral Foster, but all the other
crewmembers they could possibly have called to help deal with the enraged
Ferengi (like the XO or the Ambassador) were also unavailable.
Tarek pointedly looked at the extra pip on Clayton’s collar. With a sigh the
senior tactical officer stepped forward to intercept Godron. Tarek, never one to
abandon a fellow crewmember, followed a few steps behind.
"I wish... no, I DEMAND to speak with the Captain." A red vein bulged in
Godron’s neck.
"I’m sorry, Sir, but that isn’t possible right now. I would be pleased to help
if I can."
"Not possible. NOT POSSIBLE!" The Administrator’s voice rose to a new a pitch at
this perceived outrage.
"That is correct, Sir." Clayton stood tall and made unwavering eye contact. The
Ferengi looked at the Captain’s Ready Room and then back at the tall human,
giving a quick glance to the Vulcan/Betazoid who would also block his way should
he make the unsightly run for it. He knew he wasn’t going to get what he wanted.
"You will brief me fully on what’s going on. I want to know everything you
know," Godron huffed.
