USS Relentless NCC-11966

Stardate: 70215:2335
Title: Security Checking In
Author: Charlie Chase (NPC)
Time: Current
Scene: USS Relentless/Starbase 9

No one likes to get caught with their pants down. The security team had been let into the inner circle and given top secret information about a highly dangerous bomb. It was, therefore, a bad thing that they had been outwitted by a thief and lost the weapon.

Obviously no one was outwardly blaming the security department, as the heist had been very clever. But currently none of the security officers were making eye contact and the muttering of expletives came in fits and bursts throughout the team.

Employing a device the science department had come up with to detect the Omega particle, they had not left one broom cupboard unsearched. But it was no use – it was gone and now they were all (quite rightly) scared.

They had started to scrutinise the passengers they had picked up. The practised eye of a security officer could often pick out the nervous/suspicious person in a crowd. However, this group was full of nervous energy; they had, after all, only just narrowly escaped death and their futures all still hung in the balance as the universe fought one of its most ferocious wars.

The passengers had demanded to be beamed off the ship and eventually kicked up enough fuss that the crew had to agree. Some of the security department stayed on the ship to provide protection, whilst the others had been deployed to the starbase to try and infiltrate the local community and see if any rumours could give them a lead on the bomb.

Meanwhile, Maxine Jenna had given them a name and brain wave detector ‘thingy-me-bob’ to find the man they believed to be involved.

Chase had been lurking around the command area when the gadget gave a bleep. The man who set it off oozed confidence and style and easily gained access to what he knew to be the Admiral’s office. The security officer reported his sighting to tactical who advised him to stay in position and observe any activity.

Fifteen minutes passed and Admiral Foster turned up. The young receptionist informed the Admiral of her visitor, but Elizabeth already seemed to know, and when she entered the office Chase started to time the length of the meeting. After establishing that this was no quick visit he reported in, being transferred directly to the Executive Officer.

This meeting certainly had serious implications.
