Scene: USS Relentless


As Ensign Janwan walked down the corridor she couldn't help thinking what her new position would be like. Although she had been on the ship a short while her first official shift hadn’t started yet, partly due to transferring from one department to another - Federation rules required her to shadow someone before going solo.

The USS Relentless was said to be a very demanding commission and, from what she had picked up and observed, tactical was hectic right now. Thinking of her previous experience she hoped it wouldn't be like engineering during an attack, but so far it seemed just as challenging.

She was brought out of her thoughts as she was tripped by a piece of something on the floor.

"What the..." Siri exclaimed as she fell.

She looked at the corridor wall and saw that it was being completely taken apart.

*What is going on here?* She thought.

It was then that she noticed a crewman digging into the wall. She stood up, brushed herself down and spoke to the nearby crewman

"What is going on here?" He looked at her with a look that made Siri feel a bit stupid.

"You’re new aren’t you?" He said with a knowing smile.

"Yes I am... I’m the new tactical officer," Ensign Janwan said.

"Well then, welcome to the USS Relentless," the crewman greeted her. Siri smiled.

"Thanks. That is the first formal greeting I’ve gotten... Now, about this corridor; what are you guy's doing to it?"

"We were given orders to debug the ship," the crewman said.

"Ah... okay... Carry on." She then went straight back to her thoughts.

*I wonder if I heard right that my shift is now... I better go check the duty roster.* When she finally found the duty roster she was happy she was wrong. *Phew,* she thought with some relief.

Feeling hungry she decided to get something to eat. Siri entered the small mess hall, walking straight to one of the replicators.

"Green tee," she ordered and waited for it to finish before continuing.

"Omelette – cheese, bacon & ham." She waited once more then took her seat and started eating.

When she was finished she went off to her quarters to unpack more of her gear. However, she ended up sleeping on it.

During her sleep she heard a voice, a ghostly style voice, but she couldn't make out what it was saying. When she woke she was covered in sweat.

"I have got to take a shower," she said to no one in particular.

After her shower she was called on duty; it sounded like thing were really heating up.

A new time in her life had begun.
