Maxine awoke to find herself unable to move, trapped in a sterile white environment akin to a hospital or twentieth century horror B-movie.

As she struggled against the restraints, panicked yet calm, she continued to look around the room and analyse her current situation. The restraints themselves were physical, not an energy barrier, but try as she might they wouldn't loosen; meanwhile, the table nearby held all kinds of medical imaging devices. The room appeared to be clean, but a little TOO clean for her liking, as if the walls and floors had been pressure cleaned only recently.

The intravenous drip next to her continued to slowly pump her full of drugs and, even though her advanced training had included counter-interrogation techniques, she slowly succumbed once more to their effects, lapsing once again into unconsciousness.

Waking once more, groggy from the chemical in her system, Maxine went to rub her head, stopped abruptly by the restraints around her wrists.

Trying to maintain consciousness, she fought the cuffs once more, grunting and groaning as she did. Perhaps it was the noise, perhaps it was simply fate, but as she began to slip once more into unconsciousness the door opened and a tall and thin official entered the room.

"Good, she is almost ready," the official spoke to someone she couldn't see. "Her scans show up clean, and her physical and mental profile are MOST demanding. Prep her for further tests."

Maxine slipped once more into unconsciousness.
