Title: A Little Revenge

Scene: Life Alliance Command Laboratory / USS Relentless
As Doctor Kashif stood over the Relentless' Chief Science Officer, explaining
how some of her eggs had been removed, Maxine felt a rush of anger pass through
her. She had been violated, her body invaded, her eggs taken. But even through
her loss, a small part of her actually found herself pitying these people and
their need to resort to such methods; fertility clinics on her Earth had long
relied on genetic material from donor parents even though no such population
crash had ever happened back home.
Pulled up by the guards, Maxine thought her life was about to end when the
communications device in the Doctor's pocket went off. As he listened his face
grew red with anger, signalling for the guards to lower their weapons.
"It would appear your crew is more resourceful than we anticipated." Kashif's
statement didn't entirely put Maxine's mind at ease, and as she was dragged
through the corridor she wondered where they might be taking her.

The body of Engineer Crewman Denton (temporarily seconded to Operations) lay on
the floor in a pool of blood, and as more of the crew continued to arrive Maxine
feared for all their lives until the familiar tingle of the transporter
enveloped her and she found herself in Transporter Room 1, quickly ushered off
the transporter pad to allow the next crewmembers to be beamed onboard.
A host of Medical personnel were present to quickly check them over, and as
Maxine waited she felt the small padd in her pocket.
It hadn't been there before.
Quickly scrolling through the contents, she realised Amelie (her contact in the
Resistance) must have sneaked it in just before Maxine had been captured. With a
list of frequencies and locations displayed before her, she realised that there
was little she could do to help. Or was there?
As one of the Medical crew waved the tricorder over her, the look on her face
reported that she obviously knew what Maxine had been through. Opening her mouth
to say something, Maxine cut her off before she could begin.
"I'll report to Sickbay later. Right now I have more important matters to deal
with." There was no arguing with her on this one, and she was sure either Doctor
Talbot or Proctor would pay her a visit before too long.

On the Bridge, Maxine checked on the status of the jump drive whilst quickly
collating the data Lieutenant Keller had used from the EMH program to extract
the fertile DNA sequences, adding some more of the Federation's medical data
before compressing it all and sending a subspace message to a host of the
frequencies her 'rescuer' had provided her with.

It hadn't taken long for the Captain to call her in, for Maxine had made no
effort to cover her tracks.
“Why Maxine? Why did you do it?” Captain Winters looked at the Chief Science
Officer, and although Maxine felt she could tell her everything, she kept with
the simpler answer.
“They abducted the crew, stole our eggs and were willing to sell us to the
highest bidder. I sent the information to the resistance; maybe they can use it
to create equality in their world.”
“But Lin made sure that no genetic material was left from the crew on that
planet and who are we to decide what is right or wrong in this universe?”
“The Life Alliance Command were willing to use us and our technology for their
use. Why shouldn’t the other side do the same thing?” Maxine didn't need to
point out that providing medical technology was strictly within regulations.
“We may now be vulnerable if the Life Alliance Command intercepted that
message.”
“The drive is ready to jump in just over one minute thirty seconds.”
“Well then, Lieutenant, please return to your post and prepare to jump us home.”
Maxine had expected more of a dressing-down, but she also knew that Abby had
been witness to the cold-blooded murder of Crewman Denton.
Perhaps a little revenge was in both their hearts...
