As the crew of the Relentless found themselves back on their own vessel and being flung back to their own universe without engaging the jump drive, everyone waited with baited breath for the few seconds that passed in the journey between universes...

The Relentless re-appeared in normal space. Normal space filled with normal stars and normal planets. As Maxine confirmed that they were indeed back in their own universe and barely three weeks since their departure, a collectively held breath was released.

But even though this was their own universe things felt different, a tension in the air that they soon came to realise was born from a Federation in the midst of border wars and hit-and-run attacks...

The Immense-class starbase had been developed to replace the aging Spacedock series of stations and could hold more than two hundred starships and several hundred shuttlecraft and runabouts whilst simultaneously carrying out major repairs to several starships in the array of large external drydocks. It was designed to act equally well as a hub for interstellar travel and commerce or as a base of operations for any military operation.

Maxine could do little but watch as the Relentless pulled inside the starbase, a large gathering of Sovereign, Galaxy, Defiant, Nebula and other Intrepid-class vessels indicating that Starbase 9 was definitely being used for the latter...

Even though she had three hours of shore leave, Maxine was on and off the starbase within minutes, picking up a few essential supplies before sitting down at her desk and looking over a host of reports.
