Title: At What Cost?
Author: Lt. Cmdr Agdar Sanshiin
Time: Current
Scene: USS Destiny
A warrior's growl broke the tension on the bridge of the Destiny, stopping people's thoughts for a moment. To even be heard over the alarms was a feat itself, regardless of the dire situation the nimble Steamrunner was in. Agdar jabbed once again at the targeting controls of his station trying to enable a lock on the enemy ship, but to no avail.
"Jach, bring us around... new heading 158 mark 25; Agdar... Fire at will"
The steel in Captain Leora's voice was a sharp as a mek'leth thought Agdar. Despite her normal demeanour and choices otherwise, she was no stranger to a fight.
"Aye sir!" Replied Tactical and Conn in the same breath. The action was bringing the fire back into Agdar's veins, even if this unknown enemy was using cowardly tactics.

The Destiny curved in a tight spiral behind the two Akiras she was backing up. Both the larger cruisers we're unleashing volley after volley of photon's at the space around this arrowhead ship. Tell-tale seconds of target acquisition being given away by the bright flash of the occasion quantum torpedo.
The alien vessel replied with a violent salvo of energy weapon fire. Purple lances of destruction shot across the black into the port nacelle of the leading Akira, causing it to scream and shudder as the limb was torn from the super-structure.
~
"Ma'am, the ship just crippled the Akagi!" Came the report from Operations. The shock over the ease with which the large ship had been disabled was just noticeable in the Vulcan Quar's voice.
Leora's jaw clenched, she couldn't stand fighting... but this was something else - this was getting personal, which made things ache even more.
"Opening fire!" Roared the huge Klingon, his voice betraying pleasure at the opportunity for combat.
~
The Destiny shot beneath the Cairo as another volley of torpedoes erupted from their launchers, just as the Destiny herself made her presence known. Firing at the enemy with all forward weapons, the Destiny took on the look of a sword with a mighty orange plunging for the heart of a dragon.
As the strikes hit home, the ship did not even shudder under the crashing impacts, simply moving onwards...
~
From his viewpoint at Tactical, Agdar looked at the reports with a lessened spirit after what felt like anther failure. The Destiny had taken a beating but the enemy still stood on in defiance to the Klingon warrior, he would not be shamed by such 'P'tach'.
Checking his sensor's he noticed a slow build-up of radiation indicating a forming bridge. All allied ships were on the look out for these signs of the enemy ships open doors to home... Then an idea struck home, he'd kick them through it!
"Ma'am, I have a tactical suggestion..."
~
As the demon ship banked around for another final assault before jumping out, it became faced by the 3-ship squadron moving on it with a purpose. With some unsaid command all three ships opened fire with unarmed torpedoes. After a slow moment a wall began to form before the oncoming vessel as a number of these 'mines' were launched waiting for a specific moment to detonate, waiting for a certain level of radiation.
The ship brushed through the field, connected with some of the mines causing them to bounce over the hull, slowly surrounding the ship.
~
Agdar watched his sensors, concentrating on the increasing levels of radiation as they climbed closer to critical. His hand ready over the fire command, just as Lt. Kruzwell awaited the moment to kick the ship to full impulse.
As the focus of Adgar's attention peaked, his hand connected with the console.
~
A fine lance of phaser energy shot out from the Destiny, striking the field moments before the ships jumped to impulse (with the Akagi under tractor). The beam connected with its targeted torpedo and the explosion started the chain reaction, energy rippling over the hull of the alien ship as the mine cloud erupted into brilliance. The implosive forces reacting with the barely formed interdimensional bridge and pushed the ship down and out without a fixed destination, hopefully causing some damage on the way.
As the Federation ships pulled away, the scene behind them suddenly vanished as the remaining energy from the explosion was sucked through the bridge as it sealed itself.
~
On the bridge, damage reports were filing in as teams were dispatched to deal with repairs. Lt Cmdr Sanshiin gave himself a moment to grin at the victory before getting to pressing matters at hand.
